So Women's Day is done but we're still here, still building, still working to create more solidarity and tap in to the sisterhood for support, mentorship, allyship. I had a chance to join a couple of panel discussions for Women's Day and talked Mental Health and Women, based on my work as a writer and 'chronicler' and founder of the Health Collective

I wanted to share some of my top takeaways from these on the #SayAgain podcast this week, and I'm linking to it here. This is to demystify Mental Health, not for those of you already working in the ecosystem.

If you don't have 10 minutes, check out some key points (bless you, AI tools!)

We all have Mental Health:

  • Mental health disorders affect one in 10 adult Indians (National MH Survey)
  • Mental health is a universal issue, cutting across demographics
  • There is a significant treatment gap in mental health care in India
  • Women are statistically more likely to experience certain mental health disorders (eg Anxiety, Depression)
  • I don't think with mental health it's fair to pit the genders against each other
  • Caregiving roles contribute to chronic stress* (!)
  • We each have a role to play in tackling Stigma

Shout out to Dr Achal Bhagat, Kamna Chhibber (who shared quotes for this piece I wrote and cite in the episode) as well as Arjun '_Knight of Steel' Gupta for the work he does to shine a light on Men's Mental Health
